An anechoic test chamber lined with radio absorbent wedges

03/The lab

Where a defence capability gap becomes a company that can deliver

Running since 2025. Nothing leaves the building until it has survived the trials.

Method

Engineers, operators and investors in one room

No practice areas, no bench, no billable hours.

A project starts as one page: the claim, and the thing that would kill it. Evidence comes from outside the building, never from inside it.

No names on the site.

The clock

Twenty weeks, and the last six are trials

A demonstrator that has not been shaken, heated and jammed is not a product.

Claim to readiness

Twenty weeks

The twenty week programmeTwo weeks writing the thesis, seven gathering evidence, a decision gate at week nine, five weeks building, then six weeks of trials ending in a readiness review at week twenty.048121620THESISEVIDENCEBUILDTRIALSDECISION GATEREADINESS REVIEWWEEKS

Week nine decides whether a build starts. Week twenty decides whether it is fit for a defence programme.
  1. Weeks 1 to 2 Thesis

One page. The claim, the falsifier, and who has already tried.

  2. Weeks 3 to 9 Evidence

Programme managers, procurement records, filings. A small test with a real counterparty where we can run one.

  3. Week 9 Gate

Build, park or stop. The default is stop.

  4. Weeks 10 to 14 Build

Something working, in front of a real operator.

  5. Weeks 15 to 20 Trials

Temperature, vibration, shock and salt fog. Electromagnetic interference. Penetration testing on anything that carries data, and a supply chain traced down to the component.

  6. Week 20 Readiness review

Fit for a defence programme, or back to the gate. A demonstration on a good day counts for nothing here.

Why here

Sweden settled alliance, conscription and procurement inside two years

Alliance in March 2024, conscription in January 2026, procurement on a programme through 2030.

Stockholm has built more unicorns per head than any city outside Silicon Valley. Twenty years of software companies, next door to a programme that cannot hire.

Northern Europe seen at night from the International Space Station, city lights along the Baltic
Northern Europe after dark, from the ISS.

What changed

Four institutional shifts

  • Alliance  Sweden joined NATO in March 2024, ending two centuries of non-alignment.
  • Conscription  Civil conscription was reactivated in January 2026, alongside military service.
  • Machinery  MSB became the Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency with a broader mandate.
  • Planning  Procurement moved from single purchases to a multi-year programme through 2030.

The figures behind each of these

Principles

Four rules every programme is held to

  1. National security comes first

A programme earns its place by what it gives Sweden and its allies, before it earns anything for us.

  2. Built the way agencies buy

Requirements are written against real procurement, with export control and classification designed in from the first week.

  3. Proven against field conditions

Nothing counts until it has held through temperature, vibration, shock, salt fog and jamming.

  4. Cleared people, traceable supply chain

Every part has a named origin and every hire can hold a clearance, from the first one.

Bring the challenge. We take it from thesis to a product the field can use.
